A discussion on the BBC Radio 4 'Today' programme threw up some interesting facts from some of those directly involved with school catering. The governments £220 million extra is to be spread over 3 years, and as there are over 25,000 schools in the UK, in general the extra award amounts to 1 penny per day per pupil - less in some cases. Perhaps not the ground-breaking step forward the announcement at first seemed.
