Tesco has launched a cholesterol-lowering milk under its own label. The milk contains the plant sterol and stanol combination 'Reducol', made by Canada-based Forbes Medi-Tech, already added to margarine and yogurt. Unlike some soya-based sterols, Reducol is derived from forestry products, and so guaranteed GM free. It' claimed that combined with a healthy diet, the product can lower cholesterol by up to 24%.
