Damascus

An Eastern Mediterranean, and the capital of what is now Syria. The area has been famous for plums since the times of Ancient Greece (the Greek word for plum is damas"kinon), and damsons take their name from it.

Damascus is among the oldest continuously-inhabited cities in the world, being well-established even in Old Testament times.
