Daudet, Alphonse

(1840-1897) a French novelist, who mainly wrote about his native Provence. In his book "Letters from My Mill" (Lettres de mon moulin - 1866), quotes a gluttonous French clergyman as saying "Simply from having smelled those fine turkeys, the odour of the truffles follows me everywhere".
