Diamondback Turtle (Melaclemys terrapin)

A type of turtle found along the coast of America"s eastern seaboard - from Long Island southwards. It was popular food, and nearly became extinct in the early decades of the 20th century. Farmed turtles have taken the pressure off wild stocks.
