A small (up to 75cm) member of the shark family. It also goes under the name of catfish, rock eel, rock salmon, rough hound and most-often huss.
It is very good fried in batter, and also made into a casserole with tomatoes and white wine.
Unfortunately, dogfish are under serious threat in British waters, from over fishing.
