Aniseed (Pimpinella Anisum)

The seed of the anise plant, native to the Mediterranean regions, but also cultivated. It"s traditionally used in those areas to flavour food and drinks (such as pastis and ouzo), and in Britain to flavour "now-seldom-found" Aniseed Balls". See 'Aniseed; Medicinal uses'
