Elk (Alces Alces)

A very large form of deer living in Northern Europe and Asia, particularly Norway and Sweden.

Elk are hunted for their meat, which is highly regarded, during a strictly-defined season.

An American cousin Cervus Canadensis, is even taller, standing up to 1.6 metres (over 5 feet) at the shoulder. See 'Deer'; 'Venison'
