Garfish (Belone Belone)

A strange looking fish, in that it"s long (up to 75cm) and thin, with a very pointed nose. It occurs from the Mediterranean to the Baltic, and has the distinction of having green bones. Culinarily speaking, its flesh is good but tends to dryness. Sometimes called a sea needle or sea eel.

If you enjoy cooking take a minute to look at ‘Simon Scrutton French Cookery Classes’ on Google – and learn how to make top class bistro-style dishes. Suitable for beginners upwards. Small classes.
