Garlic - Elephant (Allium Ampeloprasum)

A large form of garlic, with a mild flavour (it's actually more closely related to a leek, than to true garlic) - also going under the name of 'Giant' or 'Levant' garlic. Heads can weight as much as 450g/1 lb; but from a culinary point of view it can be substituted for garlic, whenever this is called for. See 'Garlic'

If you enjoy cooking take a minute to look at ‘Simon Scrutton French Cookery Classes’ on Google – and learn how to make top class bistro-style dishes. Suitable for beginners upwards. Small classes.
