Girolle (cantharellus cibarius)

A first rate wild mushroom, also known as a "chanterelle". They look like an apricot-coloured curved trumpet, and also have an apricot aroma. They are delicious in sauces, and with eggs or simply fried in butter with chopped shallots and garlic.

If you enjoy cooking take a minute to look at ‘Simon Scrutton French Cookery Classes’ on Google – and learn how to make top class bistro-style dishes. Suitable for beginners upwards. Small classes.
