Hen of the Woods (Grifola Frondosa)

A form of edible fungus growing Britain, Europe and North America. It resembles a clump, and is generally found near ground level on the trunk of hardwood trees.

It has a good flavour, particularly if sliced and cooked in butter.

If you enjoy cooking take a minute to look at ‘Simon Scrutton French Cookery Classes’ on Google – and learn how to make top class bistro-style dishes. Suitable for beginners upwards. Small classes.
