Kava Kava (Piper Methysticum)
A perennial shrub, native to Polynesia and other Pacific islands, where its roots and rhizomes have traditionally been used to produce a drink used as a folk medicine.
Until recently, it was a popular supplement in the West to treat anxiety, tension and restlessness, but research in Germany showed that when it was combined with other medicines or supplements, it could cause liver damage - so it's now unavailable.
