Lucretius, Titus Lucretius Carus
(c 99-55 BC) A Roman poet and philosopher, who followed the teachings and views of Epicurus. He wrote a book "De Rerum Natura" (On the Nature of Things) giving early thoughts on animals and humans being made from small combined particles (atoms). See 'Epicure, origin and definition of the word'
