Maize, Sweet corn

Is a recent, more refined, variety of maize that has been developed in the 1920"s, in which not all the sugar is turned to starch. As well as being known to us as "corn on the cob". When removed from the husk, the uncooked kernels resemble the photograph on the top right. See 'Hush puppies'; 'Maize'; 'Maize grain'; 'Maize meal'; 'Popcorn'; 'Sweet corn'
