Marlin; White (Makaira albida)
A large fish, belonging to the Istiophoridae family - inhabiting the waters around the Caribbean and Florida, and growing up to about 3 metres. About a quarter of this length is taken up with a "sword" rather like a swordfish, only shorter.
The meat should be treated as swordfish or the Blue Marlin; and comes between the two in desirability. They are sometimes available smoked. See 'Marlin, Blue'; 'Swordfish'
