MCTs (Medium Chain Triglycerides)
These are a special type of saturated fat, derived from coconut oil, that passes easily through the liver and are directly absorbed into the bloodstream. In this way, they're converted much more rapidly into utilised energy rather than being deposited as fat.
This is because unlike butter, margarine and other edible oils - which are composed of long chain triglycerides (LCTs) and absorbed into the lymph system and stored for future use - MCTs, have much shorter molecules, more easily managed by the body.
