Melton Cake

A rich, moist, fruit cake, popularised by Dickinson & Morris (of pork pie fame), and made by them since 1854.

It was originally supplied to members of the Melton hunt, whose custom was to have a slice with a glass of 'stirrup cup' or Sherry before moving off from the Meet. To buy, see our 'Mail Order Section'.

If you enjoy cooking take a minute to look at ‘Simon Scrutton French Cookery Classes’ on Google – and learn how to make top class bistro-style dishes. Suitable for beginners upwards. Small classes.
