Milk in Tea, Coffee and Chocolate

Both tea and coffee were drunk neat when they first gained popularity, but in the 19th century, milk began to be added, possibly to diminish its pernicious side effects. Likewise, drinking chocolate was initially diluted with wine, until milk became an acceptable alternative.
