Oblade (Oblada melanura)
The French name for a fish, of the Sparidae family - called the "Saddled Bream" in Britain- found in the Mediterranean.
They are predominantly grey, with large bulging eyes, and grow to about 30cm.
If found on your fishmongers slab, they are best grilled, or simply fried in butter.
