Oranges, Health properties
Oranges are best known for their high vitamin C content, this can be as high as 60mg per 100g of fruit during the early season but is much lower in the late season. They also contain vitamin A, calcium, foic acid, phosphorus and potassium; while the rind is a good source of pectin - which lowers cholesterol, and of bioflavonoids - which benfit weak gums, capillaries and blood vessels.
The oil derived from the rind can relieve flatulence.
