Pilot fish (Naucrates Ductor)

A member of the horse mackerel family - growing up to about 60cm/2 feet in length. Although found in the North Atlantic, it's more common in the Western Mediterranean. It gets its name from its habit of following ships.

They are best grilled or treated in other ways suitable for mackerel.
