Billingsgate Market

London"s wholesale fish market. This was started in Lower Thames Street in 1699, but moved to its present site in Docklands in 1982.

It operates in the very early morning, fish arriving from every British fishing port as well as the 22% that is now imported.

An average of 35,000 tons of fish passes through each year.
