RDA (Recommended Daily Allowance)

These are the amounts of vitamins and minerals required on a daily basis by the average adult.

Initially, RDA's were intended to prevent deficiencies, but today most experts feel that the levels were set at an extremely low level. Any precise level is impossible to calculate, as individuals vary enormously, some people burning off vitamins much more quickly than orgers, and some having absorption difficulties.
