Rocket (Eruca vesicaria sativa)

The leaves have a slightly peppery flavour, which is sometimes well concealed in supermarket "forced" versions; but food lovers will find it very easy to grow at home - even in the smallest space!

It is known as arugula in Italy (and sometimes as rucola and rughetta) and roquette in France - so sometimes turns up under these names in British restaurants.

Rocket is easy to grow in containers and grow bags, producing leaves throughout the summer.

If you enjoy cooking take a minute to look at ‘Simon Scrutton French Cookery Classes’ on Google – and learn how to make top class bistro-style dishes. Suitable for beginners upwards. Small classes.
