Satsuma

A small loose-skinned orange citrus fruit belonging to the mandarin family. Britain is the world's largest market for satsuma's (possibly because they're a good size for school packed lunches) - most other countries preferring the slightly larger clementines. It's possible they might become a rarity in our shops, as many growing countries are ceasing their cultivation.

If you enjoy cooking take a minute to look at ‘Simon Scrutton French Cookery Classes’ on Google – and learn how to make top class bistro-style dishes. Suitable for beginners upwards. Small classes.
