Scaup duck

A wild diving-duck common in Northern and Central Europe, and breeds well in Scotland.

The males are basically black at both ends and white in the middle. Females, are brown, but have a distinct white circle around the base of their bill. Both sexes have a visible white wing-bar in flight.
