Shrimp; Mantis (Squilla empusa)
A wide-bodied type of shrimp growing up to 25cm and mainly living in mud holes below the low-water-mark on the eastern seaboard of the U.S.A.
A European variant (Squilla mantis) lives around in the Mediterranean and on the Atlantic coast as far north as the Bay of Biscay.
If found on your fishmongers slab, they are good treated in all ways suitable for large prawns and scampi.
