Soyer, Alexis

Perhaps the first celebrity chef to work in Britain, when he was in charge of the kitchens at The Reform Club in London during the 1850's.

He was well known for his grandiloquence, but was also a mass-educator in nutrition and diet, helping to organize the troops food in the Crimean war.
