Spotted Dog

A steamed suet pudding containing currants or sultanas, .made in an individual mould, rather than rolled like a "roly-poly". The name "dog" probably originates from an old colloquial name for dough. See 'Roly-Poly'; 'Spotted Dick' & our 'Recipe' section.

If you enjoy cooking take a minute to look at ‘Simon Scrutton French Cookery Classes’ on Google – and learn how to make top class bistro-style dishes. Suitable for beginners upwards. Small classes.
