Wreckfish (Polyprion Americanus)

A large fish growing up to 2 metres - and sometimes known as Stone Bass. It occurs on both sides on both sides of the Atlantic as far north as Norway and Newfoundland.

It"s so called because of its habit of following bits of floating wreakage.

The meat is of good quality, and makes steaks that can be grilled or fried. Smaller fish are excellent baked whole.

If you enjoy cooking take a minute to look at ‘Simon Scrutton French Cookery Classes’ on Google – and learn how to make top class bistro-style dishes. Suitable for beginners upwards. Small classes.
