British Food Fortnight

An event  originally organised by 'The Guild of Fine Food' working alongside the 'Countryside Alliance' to promote British speciality foods.

The first was held between 26th October and 9th November 2002, and  featured special events all over the country - culminating in a very successful 'Spirit of Christmas' exhibition at Olympia in London.

The now-annual campaign aims to reduce 'food miles' by strengthening local food networks and creating the shortest chain between the producer and consumer.

It also hopes to encourage local independent retailing and encourage customers (including schools and industry) to buy from local suppliers.
