After Eight

A type of dark-chocolate wafer, with a mint filling, launched by Rowntree in 1962, as a 'prestigious' after-dinner mint.

Rowntree is now owned by Nestle, and in 1998 introduced white-chocolate After Eights. About 1.3 billion individual chocolates are made in Britain each year.
