Borek

The general name for a type of Middle Eastern pastry. A rich-layered or filo-type pastry holds a filling of cheese or meat and the pastries are fried or baked. Borek's are possibly descended from the Indian samosa. At one time there were over 4,000 specialist shops in Istanbul alone.
