Cod is now being farmed on an increasing scale. The latest figures (May 2009) show that Norway farmed 18,000 tonnes a year, the USA 1,000 and Iceland 2,000 tonnes. At the time of writing (January 2017) the main firm in Scotland has gone into liquidation.
