Chicken Free Range

To be labelled in this way, a bird has to live in conditions that enable it to:

1.Have continuous daytime access to open-air runs.

2.The ground must be mainly covered in vegetation.

3.The maximum stocking density must not exceed 1,000 hens per hectare, or one hen per square metre.

4.The indoor (night-time) stocking rate must not exceed 13 birds per square metre.

5.Birds for eating mustn't be slaughtered until they're a minimum of 56 days old.
