Hampers / Baskets

There's mid Atlantic confusion over this word. In the UK a hamper is a container, often wicker, containing a selection of 'goodies' to take on a picnic or to send as a present. In the USA this would be called a 'Basket' – and a hamper would be for laundry use. In the UK, a basket is a handled container (again sometimes wicker) for carrying your shopping.

If you enjoy cooking take a minute to look at ‘Simon Scrutton French Cookery Classes’ on Google – and learn how to make top class bistro-style dishes. Suitable for beginners upwards. Small classes.
