Butterfish (Peprilus tricanthus)

A small fish, growing up to 30cm, and belonging to the Stromateidae family. Butterfish inhabit the sea of the Western Atlantic between South Carolina and the south of Newfoundland. If found on your fishnmongers slab in Britain, they are good floured and fried.
