Tonic Water

A non-alcoholic drink made with sweetened carbonated water, flavoured with quinine. Although associated with the British Raj, tonic water didn't really emerge until the 1870's or become really popular until the 20th century. However, quinine-flavoured soda water had been popular on the Indian sub-continent for many previous decades.
