Welsh Onions (Allium Fistulosum)

A form of onion with herbal qualities, and also known as 'Japanese Leek'. The leaves are hollow stems, rather like giant chives, and can be used in a similar way. The species is indigenous to Siberia - the 'welsh' title being a crruption of the English 'walsch' - meaning foreign.
