Maltitol; (E965)

A naturally-occurring sugar. Derived from malt, and sometimes used in the confectionary industry. It doesn't require insulin to metabolise it, and is often recommended for the use of diabetics. Maltitol has also been approved as tooth-friendly. It's a polyol (chemical formula C12H24011), and has a calorific value of 2.4 Cal/g. Compared to saccarose, on a scale of 1 to 100, Maltitol scores 90.
