St. Brigid

The patron saint of dairymaids. She was born in 451 or 452 at Faughart, near Dundalk, in what is now County Louth, and died in Kildare on February 1st 525. She was considered by her biographers to have been one of the most remarkable Irish women of her times, helping to spread Christianity with Saint Patrick, and helping the poor. She also founded a school of art and ornate metal work.
