Sea Aster (Aster tripolium)
A native aster plant variety, found around Britain's estuaries & salt marshes.
During summer months their purple flowers (with yellow centres) can be spotted.
On the culinary front, the leaves are of interest to foragers, and are best 'sweated' in mild garlic butter or steamed for a couple of minutes in the style of young spinach.
