Newport 1665

An unpasteurised smoked cows' milk cheese made in Shropshire by Mr. Moyden Handmade Cheese - see (

It's named after the 'Great Fire of Newport' (Shropshire) that happened in that year.

The wheels of cheese are smoked over oak at Bings Heath Smokery (q.v.) - resulting in a buttery texture and mellow, sweet, flavour.

If you enjoy cooking take a minute to look at ‘Simon Scrutton French Cookery Classes’ on Google – and learn how to make top class bistro-style dishes. Suitable for beginners upwards. Small classes.
