A breed of cattle developed by Charles Goodnight, a Texas frontiersman, who seeing how well wild bison (buffalo) withstood heat and drought conditions, crossed them with European cows to produce (in the third cross) a hardy breed called Cattalo.

These animals are resistant to certain diseases, aren't easily disturbed by heel flies, mature quickly and have good beef configuration. See "Chuck Wagon"
