Chick Pea (Cicer arietinum)
These are seeds from a member of the Leguminosae family (that includes peas). They are an important part of the diet in many countries in the Middle East and the Indian Sub-Continent.
Chick peas are also used in South West France, Spain and North Africa.
When bought, they will invariably be dried, and will need soaking for a few hours to re-hydrate them before cooking.
