Chili/chilli powder

A powder made by grinding up dried hot red chilis. The method of extracting the pulp from chili pods, before drying, was invented in New Braunfels, Texas in about 1902, and led to the start of a successful Chili con Carne canning business. See Cayenne pepper; Chili con Carne.
