Chinese New Year; background

This is a floating event, and happens on the first day of the first moon after the sun enters Aquarius - when Buddha traditionally summoned all the animals in his kingdom, but only twelve appeared.

First the rat, then the ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog and lastly the pig. Each one was rewarded with a year named after him, the twelve year sequence following the order in which the animals appeared to him.

Babies born in each animal"s year would be destined to take on something of the animals personality.
