Possibly the benchmark standard for British Farmers Markets - (apart from London's Borough, it's considered by many to be the best).
It is generally accepted by most farmers' markets that stall holders must have grown, bred, caught, pickled, brewed or baked the goods themselves. Their main emphasis is to help local producers and processors to sell their goods directly to the public, near their source of origin.
The selection of goods available will vary with the season and location. However, you are likely to find a delicious selection of vegetables, fruit, meat, eggs, bread and cakes, fruit juices and dairy products.
There are many excellent stalls here, some of the best being free-range beef from Pigs Folly Farm; organic beef, lamb and pork from Knock Farm Organics of Haverfordwest, Organic Rainbow Trout from Deverill, charcuterie from Castellano's, and the cheeses from both Alham Wood (who specialise in buffalo milk cheese) and Chewton Dairy. There is also an excellent stall selling bread from The Common Loaf Bakery of Dunkeswell.
