James Marsden bought Gregg's Pit (named after an old marl pit) in 1992, but the original orchard is thought to have been planted in 1785. He consistently wins national awards, particularly for his perry - which is made by the labour-intensive Champagne Method.
At the time of writing, his products are only available from retail outlets, but he hopes to have a license to sell his products directly from the orchard shortly.
